randomness, updated.

I have a kitty!!!!! Her name is Sylvie and she is a super precious beautiful thing -when she isn't fighting you to avoid taking medicine- check out my facebook for pics.

Work is going alright, most recent update is that since the governor has no yet passed the budget we have enough money to get us through August payroll (this is updated from only getting through July). I guess they maxed out the credit that the org could get in order to accomplish this. So, if Rendell does not pass the budget by the end of Aug I could be jobless.

I am getting married in 2 months & 1 week. OMGOMGOMGOMGOMGOMG!!!!

Phil & I are really good.... I didn't realize until a party on Saturday just how good we were :)

Kitchen painting project is complete. Many other projects are complete as well.

Much love to friends :)

Sunday- go to church, tour The Mansion, Father's Day lunch @ The Monroe, paint the kitchen

Monday - I go to work early & stay late due to a coworker being out for training. Monday night review invitations for the wedding with Mom and get them all set to be sent out.

Tuesday- I go to work early & stay late due to a coworker being out for training. Tuesday night we go straight to the Jimmy Buffet concert (2 hours away) with a quick dinner on the road. Go Go Quiznos!

days off

You ever want to call off of work because it is gorgeous outside? Then your rational mind slaps you saying "and what would you do here.... work. May as well save the day off."

and so.. despite the beautiful day... I go to work and repeat my mantra "at least you are making some money... at least you are making some money..."

picnic

I am going on a picnic! It is a BEAUTIFUL day for a picnic! A bunch of us are going out for "free fishing" day. Phil will finally be able to use the Grill thing that I got him for his birthday last year. There will be food and fun and children (more entertaining than a TV) and iced tea. Mmmmmmm iced tea. Ok well I suppose we are going to head out soon. I just felt like sharing that little bit of happiness with everyone.

Dough Boy

Pittsburgh Post Gazette. Gene Collier. 6/3/09

This made me laugh out loud in the lunch room. Someone walked in and thought that I had cracked.

“Worse still, with the local embargo on available octopi, there is no talisman for Red Wings fans to hurl onto the ice before the hostilities. On the other hand, things were growing so desperate for the Penguins in the pre-game, the suggestion that they counter with some similar good-luck life-form seemed plausible.

Would anyone really mind if, for example, a groundhog were tossed over the glass surreptitiously in the throbbing game? I don’t think even PETA sponsors a Groundhog Defense League, and really, who wouldn’t want to see the tremendously annoying Gus, the second most famous groundhog in Pennsylvania, have his lottery-pimping butt given a icy massage?”

random things

In the life of Kristi:

Visit with Mom was **awesome** We did a lot of planting and weeding and we spent a lot of good quality time together. We ordered the fabric for the bridesmaid dresses. I found the perfect material! PLEASE let Mom get this job in Altoona!

Memorial Day party was fun! We had a whole lot of people over and it seemed like everyone had a good time. It was Bob's birthday and Aubrey made a really nice cookie cake for him -which was a major hit with the kids. Jed & Sarah Stancato stayed over with Marcus and we all went to breakfast the next day which was good times as well.

We played with the pool and relaxed on Memorial Day. We siphoned off a bunch of water on the pool cover, relaxed in the shade chit chatting, listened to some tunes. Phil taught me how to play with D&D miniatures

He then went to Magic (which will be hosted at our place next month) and I went to dinner with Helen, the lady who is making my wedding dress. She quoted me a price that is 1/3 of what I thought that it was going to be! I am really very excited about it, she and I were on the same page as far as what my style and taste are.

Work is work is work is work. Not really anything to say on that front. It is pretty much the same as usual except that Beth is out of the office for most of the week so I am doing a little of my job and a little of her job... but it is working out well so I won't complain :)My personal caseload is increasing by leaps and bounds which is good. That means that more people are getting hired and fewer people are getting fired or leaving the program for no good reason.

I am going to Origins, Phil and I are scheduled and I have the day off approved (with pay!) I think that this will be the first time that I have gotten paid to game. I miss gaming, sometimes I miss LARPing (just not the Cam). We need a wider TT group so that there is usually something going on when we are available.

Other than that everything is pretty status quo.

cleaning & training

I have been at annual State mandated guidlines training in Youngwood for the past two days. This is the time of year when they tell us how good/bad we did in the previous year, if they are cutting funds, if new funds are coming in, and explain what changes will happen. immediately.

My agency is doing surprisingly well, this is good, but they are adding new methods of tracking clients, client's activity participation, activity outcomes, employment tracking, and community service hours... all of which will take up a significant amount of time.

Not to mention that it has been beautiful/perfect weather here for the last two days and the auditorium that we were in was stuck at (literally) 57 degrees. I was called upon to be the guest on their version of "who wants to be a millionaire" and won a Reeses Cup -which was promptly stolen by the supervisor who volunteered me for the gig. Joy.

Mom is coming tomorrow and I need to clean, however the exhausting last couple of days have made me not want to do a damn thing. I have at least 10 items on my chore list that I will be happy with once they are done. Maybe I will take comp time tomorrow instead of overtime.

delayed post

So, I went to a Pens game. OMG was it AMAZINGLY fun!! I was screaming and jumping and laughing and .... yah. Good times. Phil & I went to Olive Garden before the game and had really good food (I recommend the braised beef w/tortellini). We wandered around the area for a little bit and then found our seats (right behind the goal) and watched the warm up. We could have gone right down to the boards at that time as there were not a lot of people there yet. Maybe next time.

Thank you Phil, other than the ring it is probably the best present yet!

my weekend

i think that a lot go accomplished this weekend. Friday I made a new recipe for Aubrey's party (congrats to her!) and we rock banded it out until the early hours of the morning there.

Saturday we got up and went yard saleing, again we found some great bargains. We then went to a BBQ and to watch the Pens almost lose to the Flyers... thank the Lord they won. We then came home and cleaned, did laundry, sorted through yard sale stuff and put wedding materials into boxes to go upstairs. Phil's dad stopped by for a few minutes and then we went to the Monroe for dinner. Came home and masacarred dust bunnies then chilled out until bed time.

Sunday I was up bright and early from the sun, took an extra long nice shower then headed off to adult education lessons at the Church then stayed for service. Coffee hour was pleasant and we made arrangement for marraige counseling to begin. We then started the whirlwind afternoon. We picked up the curio cabinet, picked up stuff from the other house, picked up wood in Evans City, cleaned and now are about to entertain some friends with a BBQ and some cards.

I love weekends and sunshine!!!

civil service

I am in Pittsburgh today. Why? I took 2 civil service tests. I was told "no, they are not hard... don' worry about it." Well, it was fairly difficult. The labor market statistics were scary but at least I knew the vocabulary that they used.

The management analyst test was very difficult. I don't think that someone who had not been in a Public Admin program would know the terminology that was used. It really felt like a final exam from my graduate level "organizational behavior" class. The problem is that a lot of the questions were the "what would you do in this situation?" and more than 1 option seemed viable. I could usually eliminate 2 choices so maybe luck was with me on the 50/50 questions.

I need the Careerlink test to have gone well. Not want. Need.

Safe travels to all those attending SCaRE.

Bright side is that we hve friends coming over for the Pens game tonight. GO PENS! Not only will here be friends, and hockey, but also BBQ.

(I also write this while drinking a chai latte... so life could be worse)
